(RIDGEFIELD, N.J.) – Hundreds of participants were welcomed to the 2013 New York Tanning Expo by PC Tan VP of Sales Eric Haynes Jan. 19 in Teaneck, N.J.

Customers and vendors alike filled the Marriott at Glenpointe to hear experts on a wide variety of subjects including “Changing The World’s Perception of Sunlight and Indoor Tanning” presented by the American Suntanning Association with James Oliver & Diane Lucas; and “Making a Long-Term Impact on Your Business,” by Smart Tan CEO Matt Russell.

The afternoon provided the opportunity to listen to a “Power Panel” of industry experts, such as Diane Lucas, Palm Beach Tan; Valerie LaVigna, Hollywood Tans; James Oliver, Beach Bum Tanning; Thomas D’Auria, Tan Lines of East Windsor; and Robbie Segler, Darque Tan.

PC Tan Chief Executive Officer Susan Miller expressed her enthusiasm for the range of topics discussed at the Expo. “This year, we were particularly pleased to welcome back our ‘power panel’ of industry leaders from both large chains and smaller independents,” Miller said. “We also have the leading manufacturers and suppliers to discuss trends, share best practices and introduce some of the initiatives being launched to ensure the bright future of our industry.”

Attendees particularly enjoyed this year’s keynote speaker, Danny Wood, who specializes in helping businesses “work smart” in today’s selling arena. Wood described simple strategies that salon owners and staff can utilize in order to attract and retain customers and maximize sales.

Evening activities included giveaways of prizes worth over $15,000 and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the ballroom, hosted by PC Tan, Devoted Creations and Cosmedico.
