On Saturday Jan. 17, PC Tan Vice President of Sales Eric Haynes welcomed hundreds of tanning salon owners and salon consultants from all over the country who started their year off at the 2015 PC Tan Expo.

The Teaneck Marriott opened its doors and welcomed industry experts, many of whom started the weekend early by taking advantage of the sunless certifications offered the day before from California Tan Sunless and Norvell University. These eager salons found new advances and advantages to help their sunless business thrive.

 Saturday began with an entertaining Saturday Night Live skit by Matt Russell and the talented musical styling of Ashley Laabs, editor of Smart Tan Magazine. The lively kickoff started the show off with a bang and got attendees ready for a great day ahead.

“From start to finish, the energy of the event was absolutely electric,” says PC Tan CEO Susan Miller. “The opening performances were hilarious and really set the tone for the entire show. The exhibit area was buzzing from start to finish, and the eclectic group of guest speakers provided tons of excitement and valuable information for everyone to take back to their businesses.”

In the educational sessions, industry leaders shared their knowledge and insight into important industry matters. Presentations included “State of The Industry” by Matt Russell of Smart Tan; “We Are Family,” presented by David McFarland of Sun Evolutions; “Inspiring Better Business,” presented by Lewis Henry of Devoted Creations; and “Sunless Success,” presented by Cale Carver of Norvell.

Keynote speaker Robbie Segler, CEO of Darque Tan, shared the three key components for success to a room full of intrigued tanning salon professionals eager to maximize their salon’s success. All in attendance were taking careful notes on the tanning veteran’s powerful presentation. His eye-opening approach to tanning sales had everyone in the room enthralled. PC Tan Vice President of Sales Paul Manke gave an electric presentation that motivated the audience – it even influenced one salon owner to keep their business open! Industry leaders including Vanessa Staffa of Beach Bum Tanning, Diane Lucas of Palm Beach Tan, Jill Yablon of Caribbean Hot Spot, and Dan Caskey of the Palm Beach Tan franchise community advised attendees in a valuable panel discussion. The return of the panel experts had everyone glued to their seat as they covered a range of topics.

This year, PC Tan welcomed celebrity guest speaker Jenni “JWOWW” Farley to the stage as she shared some of her reality TV experiences, the road to launching her own tanning lotion line with New Sunshine, and her journey as a mom with fiancé Roger Mathews. JWOWW spoke one-on-one with Steve Trautman of New Sunshine and was asked questions from various fans and salon owners in the audience.

The 2015 PC Tan Expo featured a morning beverage break sponsored by New Sunshine and Norvell, an afternoon “Taste of New York” break sponsored by Devoted Creations and KBL, and a fabulous gourmet luncheon sponsored by Sun Evolutions and Cosmedico that filled the room with a mix of industry professionals who were able to interact and share stories with one another at each table.

Expo attendees had a chance to win thousands in wonderful prizes, from valuable tanning salon supplies, to Smart TVs and the latest technology in music, tablets and gaming!

“We had really great prizes to give out this year, and everyone that attended went home with a gift bag and some inspiration to have an incredible year of business,” Miller said. “Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a huge success!”
